Aspens Catering- from September 2024
Dear Parents/Carers
As you will be aware, we will be moving to a new school meal provider, Aspens, from September 2024.
Following Bedford Borough’s decision to cease the centralised school meals contract with Caterlink, we have been working closely with both Camestone and Balliol Primary School to negotiate the best possible contract for our schools. Although we have worked together to source the best deal, the contracts are owned by the individual schools. Through the tendering process, we engaged with many different providers and found that Aspens offered us the best possible deal, in terms of; cost per meal, online ordering options and quality of food.
The cost of the meal will be £2.60 per day which is significantly lower than it is currently. Information about how you can order and pay online for meals should come out in the summer holidays and when it does, I will upload the information into this folder and alert you by text.

A pupil allergy form has already been sent home and almost all parents have returned these, thank you. If you have not already done so, please email your forms to christopher.lawrence@aspens-services.com. Although as a school we have this information already, Aspen’s need to have this confirmed to them by parents/ carers, rather than the school. They request that it is only medical food allergies that they are made aware of, not foods that the child does not like eating. Once Aspen’s have this information, it will be added to your ordering/ payment portal and, if your child has an allergy, they will not be able to order a meal containing the item(s) that they are allergic to. Further information about this portal will follow in due course.
